Choosing a Real Estate School

Real estate can be an extremely rewarding career. However, it’s important to get your Nevada real estate license from a quality, accredited school. The following are several things to consider when choosing a real estate school.

Track Record

It’s important to do some research and find out how long the school has been in business, how many students have successfully completed the school’s various programs, and where those students generally end up afterward. It’s also a good idea to see if the school has any endorsements and if so, from whom.

Curriculum

Ask if the school writes its own curriculum or if it uses national publications for its core curriculum. A school that publishes its own curriculum is much more likely to be current with the latest information whereas national publications can be years behind. Be sure to check that the school offers certification and/or licensing in the areas of real estate you’re interested in and that the classes are taught by qualified instructors.

Test Prep

Not all real estate schools offer test prep. Choosing a school that includes exam and test prep can give you a major advantage when it comes to preparing for licensing exams, especially if you tend to be a nervous test taker. While it’s possible to find practice exams online for free, this can be a dicey proposition since free tests often do not include the most up-to-date information.

Job Placement

Choosing a school with job placement is a great way to have a foot in the door as soon as you graduate. Look for a school that has active relationships with the real estate agencies you’re seeking to work with.

Of course, budget is also a consideration. However, keep in mind that with real estate school, you often get what you pay for so going the bargain basement route is not always a good idea.
