Are you a licensed real estate agent considering a move to Nevada? Depending on what state you’re moving from, you may not have to go through the entire licensing process to work as an agent in NV due to Nevada real estate license reciprocity.
Here’s how to transfer your real estate license to Nevada.
How Real Estate License Reciprocity Works
Real estate license reciprocity is an arrangement between states that simplifies the process for licensed real estate agents to obtain a license in another state. Nevada currently allows licensed agents in 16 states to have an expedited method of getting their real estate license in Nevada.

Applicants who hold a current real estate salesperson license or higher in the states listed below qualify for the reciprocal Nevada salesperson license.

Please note that holding a real estate license in one of these states doesn’t automatically qualify you to assist with real estate transactions in Nevada. Keep reading to learn the licensing process for salespeople licensed in another state.
How to Transfer Real Estate License to Nevada
If you hold a real estate license in one of the states listed in the last section, complete the following steps to get your Nevada real estate salesperson license.
Step 1: Complete required pre-licensing courses
You must still learn Nevada real estate laws and regulations even if you’re already licensed in another state. Enroll in the appropriate out-of-state licensing and test-prep courses to learn the required material.
Step 2: Complete Application Form 549.
Complete Form 549 and the accompanying checklist. It’s worth noting that the form requires you to name the Nevada brokerage you’ll work under as an agent. In addition, you must pay a $140 application fee.
Step 3: Obtain a certified license history
Applicants who hold or have held a real estate license within the past ten years in any state must provide a certified license history issued by the state in which they are licensed. The history must be dated within 90 days of your application submission date.
Step 4: Pass the Nevada state exam.
Pearson VUE administers the Nevada salesperson exam. Licensed out-of-state applicants must pass the Nevada portion of the exam within 12 months before applying for their licenses.
Step 5: Complete the Fingerprint Background Waiver.
A fingerprint background waiver must be completed, signed, and dated before submitting your fingerprints.
Step 6: Get fingerprinted.
Submit the fingerprint verification form issued by a state-approved fingerprint vendor. Fingerprints expire after six months.
Step 7: Complete Form 656.
Form 656, also called the “consent to service of process,” is for out-of-state applicants seeking reciprocity for a Nevada salesperson license. It must be notarized.
