Salesperson
Salesperson General Requirements (Scroll Down for Broker Requirements)
California requires 3 California specific real estate pre licensing courses prior to applying for the California Salesperson licensing exam/ license. Key Realty School provides the 3 courses via home study and online. Students who enroll in the CA pre licensing package will be provided with the course text and online study material (students enrolling online or via phone will be sent the material via UPS ground). Once the material is received, the student is to review the content for a minimum of 18 days per course per CA law. The student may test through the school website to obtain a course certificate after the minimum time frame has passed and the student is comfortable with the curriculum.
· Age: You must be 18 years of age or older to be issued a license.
· Residence: Proof of Legal Presence in the United States is required. If you are not a California resident, see Out-of-State Applicants. (CA residency is NOT required)
Salesperson Course Requirements
Successful completion of three courses is required to qualify for a real estate salesperson examination:
1. Real Estate Principles, and
2. Real Estate Practice, and
3. One Key course from the following list:
- Legal Aspects of Real Estate (Recommended and automatically included unless requested otherwise)
- Real Estate Appraisal
- Property Management
- Real Estate Finance
- Real Estate Economics
- Escrows
- Business Law
- Home Owner Association

Key Realty School provides the 8 courses via home study and online. Students who enroll in the CA pre licensing package will be provided with the course text and online study material (students enrolling online or via phone will be sent the material via UPS ground). Once the material is received, the student is to review the content for a minimum of 18 days per course per CA law. The student may test through the school website to obtain a course certificate after the minimum time frame has passed and the student is comfortable with the curriculum. Broker applicants may waive portions of the 8 course requirement through previous college education in business specific college level classes. Experience cannot be used in substitution of the 8 course topics or any part of. Students who seek to waive portions of the 8 course pack should contact the school admissions office to have their credentials evaluated.

· Experience: A minimum of two years full-time licensed salesperson experience within the last five years or the equivalent is required. For further information, see Documenting Experience Requirements for the Broker Examination.
Applicants for a real estate broker license examination must have successfully completed the following eight statutorily required college-level courses:
1. Real Estate Principle
2. Real Estate Practice; and
3. Legal Aspects of Real Estate
